Thank you for your feedbacks

It has been a little more than a week since we, the Theatre Practice has moved out of Drama Centre, and packed the boxes away. It is with a heavy heart that the team has walked away from the production that has consumed so much of our lives the past few months. This intense experience is made the more memorable because of you, every single one of the audience member who has sat in the dark theatre with us to watch a simple story of love and friendship acted out by an entourage of dreamers. Thank you for your support, your applauses, your standing ovations and your gentle criticisms. We appreciate every one of your efforts to pen your thoughts cohesively and sending them to us. We will try our best here to answer your questions.

George can dance, someone has commented. Yes, he is a beautiful dancer but he is not alone. Oliver Pang, also a talented dancer has flown to London for the performance of yet another musical. And thank you for loving the music and the songs as much as we do. After 26 shows and umpteen times more in rehearsals, we are still humming the songs that are already knitted into our memories.

We have also received some feedbacks on the autograph session. Generally people are happy to have a chance to be in close proximity with the stars of the show, which includes Dr. Liang Wern Fook on most days. Others wondered why we have decided to set restrictions on what can be signed. We did allow for most items to be signed on the first couple of shows and the team end up signing everything from the ticket stubs to blank pieces of paper and someone’s outstretched hand, and inevitably, the sessions dragged on. With the show running almost daily and twice on Saturdays, our actors and actresses need ample rest to re-charge for the show the very next day. We also have audience members returning to have their songbooks signed by other cast members. That we did oblige.

We have two experienced actors- Robin Goh and Jeffrey Low playing the character, A Qiang in this run. We had published this information in our blogs- this one and our resident blog in OMY.com. And audience members who have watched both performances enjoy the unique interpretation of one character by two actors, which in the end enriches the entire show.

In the beginning, the media has focused heavily on the homosexual sub-plot that has earned us an advisory. In the end, it was mentioned only a couple of times in feedback forms over a 26-show run. The general audience has focused on what this play is really about- dreams and pursuing them, love lost and reclaimed, the songs and music of xinyao and the singing talents of our cast.

For those who wish to buy the original soundtrack for the musical, it is available for sale in major music stores. For a full listing of the songs, please refer to our show programme.

Many of the audience members who have watched ‘If There’re Seasons…’ are first-time theatre goers, and it is tremendously important for us, a theatre company to cultivate new audience in our expanding repertoire. We thank you all for your support and your faith.

You may email us directly to jolim@practice.org.sg if you would like to be in our mailing list.

This is a brief listing of our upcoming shows, and we hope to see you there!
